Maura Garcia is a dancer/choreographer who collaborates within communities to create stories of identity and place. Originally from Binghamton, NY is an woman who brings her own mixed-blood southern story to all of her work. Concerns about the perpetuation of life-ways, the environment and social justice underlie her creations. She uses her art to empower, to form connections, to uplift cultural values and to explore the rhythms of the natural world.

Garcia founded MGD to uplift cultural values, to form connections and to explore the rhythms of the natural world. From compelling solos to multi-sensory, experiential ensemble shows, MGD provides deeply engaging performances for the stage, the out-of-doors and in response to specific places and events.
